Are you interested in collectible action figures? It can be a wonderful hobby, passion, or business. Those wonderful comic book and movie heroes will come back to you.

We all know what an action hero is, do we not? It is a figure from about three to eleven inches. The figure is static because the point was not to play with it but to display it.

You may have been a fan of the Star War series so you may want to start your collection there because of your familiarity with the characters. If your focus is on one collection you will not be tempted to buy a Batman action figure today and then a Spider-Man tomorrow. Another way that a collection can start is to choose all of the ones that you loved as a child. This could end up being very costly but very rewarding for you.

Perhaps you are interested in the quality of the workmanship. The artwork on these pieces is quite fantastic. Then you are not collecting figures from a specific theme but collecting for their beauty.

You may want to get some help in deciding on the first figure to buy. Research as much as you can by reading news items and blogs that discuss action figures. You may even find something that focuses on your figure.

The internet is a good source of information but where else should you look. Go to your local toy store or the toy department in stores. You have chosen a specific figure so that is the one you want to focus on. Someone may be moving and are having a garage sale. This is a perfect opportunity for you. Other sources that may have them are flea markets and thrift shops.

The next step is displaying your collection. You could try a glass case that is enclosed to give them protection. Alternately you could put them on a shelf or bookcase displaying them in their best action position.

It is important that you have a regular maintenance program. You do not want your figures to be damaged in any way so you must be sure to keep them out of the sun and heat, keep them out of a humid environment, and free from dust and dirt. They may have been indestructible in the comic book or the movie but that is where it ends.

If you have mint in package figures then these need care also. The package requires care because it was never made to last but to be opened and thrown away. Again heat and sun are problems that you must be wary of.

If you have a good collection and have taken care of it then insuring it might be an option. Protecting your investment is important. You may think that your present insurance will cover your collection but it may not. Speak with your insurance agent and it might be possible to get a floater for your collectibles. There is actually specialized insurance to cover collectibles and you may want to look into that.

Justice League action figures are still among the most popular ones around. If you are a kid, you love them. If you are a kid at heart, they are the old-school figures you grew up with and will always be among the coolest toys around.

The Justice League has been around since the 1960s and is one of the classic comic books. When it first came out, it featured seven superheroes from DC Comics: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter.

Many action figures have been made of all of these characters but four remain the most popular: Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. These four recently were released in a new set which also includes a book of 48 pages on these characters.

Other superheroes may come and go but the Justice league, though one of the earliest, continue to be popular and hold their appeal. If you look at how popular the Batman movies are, as well as the series Smallville and all the cartoons, it is easy to see that these characters are here to stay. It does not seem like any superhero will ever outshine Superman and Batman, especially.

Even in this current digital age, kids still really like action figures, especially younger kids. When they get the opportunity to get out from in front of the computer or the TV, they can start using their imaginations. There is really no end to the games that can be played using action figures. The only limitation is the imagination of the children playing with them.

If you want to buy some Justice League action figures, you have a lot of choices. Some are brand new, like the new packaged set of four. Others are collectibles, having been stored in their original packages for years and are like new. If you want a surprise that will make a child or a child at heart smile, these are a great choice.

If you’re still a boy at heart, then you certainly have a fondness for the action figures of your youth. Depending upon when exactly you experienced your adolescence, you probably have your own preference for figures. If you grew up in the sixties, you probably loved playing with GI Joes. The seventies, Star Wars and DC and Marvel heroes. The eighties were all about He-Man and the Ninja Turtles, not to mention Ghost Busters, and the nineties belonged to Dragon Ball Z.

Recently, the whole market for these toys has really been leaning more and more towards the adult collector, with figures becoming more intricate, and less poseable. Not to mention, more expensive. This is fine and dandy, but they kind of cease to be action figures when they’re only being bought by sticks in the mud who refuse to play with them.

The term action figure came about in the sixties when Hasbro discovered that few boys were willing to play with their GI Joe “dolls”. Hence, action figure. This would prove to be a nice, masculine euphemism.

If you want to get technical, they ARE, in fact, dolls, but by applying the word “action” to the label, Hasbro was able to lure the kids in who were reluctant to touch anything whose name had girly connotations.

Of course, it was the Star Wars figures of the seventies that really put these toys on the map. Star Wars was a revolution on more than a few levels. Besides being perhaps the most successful movie franchise of all time, Lucas, in retaining the merchandising rights, also managed to become the first movie-toy mogul. In his footsteps would follow the makers of He-Man and the Master of the Universe, and Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s certainly safe to say that the modern producer of kid-friendly film and animation rakes in a lot more money from toy sales than from tickets and TV advertising sponsorships alone.

Today, there are few franchises that don’t boast an action figure or two. Everything from The Big Lebowski to Army of Darkness. If people like it, you can find toys of it.

When I was a kid, I have been hearing the word Lightsabers but I didn’t know what it absolutely was. When I hear that word, I think of flashlights. I was partially right. A Lightsaber is a fictional sword used by the Jedi order in the Star Wars movies. It ordinarily features a metal handle that can easily project a blade of plasma energy. I would like to think that it is more potent than the true variety of sword if there was real one. But come to think of it, if a person doesn’t know how to use it, then it most likely can be as useless as a flashlight in the middle of a war.

I’ve always believed that no matter what you are holding, as long as you know how to use it to defend yourself, it will be your strongest and most powerful weapon against the opponent. Am I sounding like a Jedi now? Well anyone can be a Jedi especially now that Lightsabers have been made available to the public through stores that specialize on movie replica equipment and props.

Occasionally I even consider that one could make a lot of money putting up a shop that specializes in movie memorabilias and prop replicas. There are lots of movie replica aficionados who are willing to shell out hundreds to thousands of dollars to own an item similar to the props that were used in movies that made it a massive hit. A lot are generally even selling or auctioning off the true props that were used in the movie itself. A lot of are auctioned off for charity and other superior causes and a number are auctioned off just for personal gain.

I completely realize the fulfillment derived from having a useless Lightsaber hanging around the house. It gives you bragging rights. The mere fact that you own a thing that nobody else in the neighborhood has is something to be very proud of. Maybe it’s kind of worthless to others but to you, it’s worth just about every dollar you saved from skipping lunch just to get hold of this Lightsaber.

Only to give you a good understanding relating to the various color coding of the Lightsabers as you would notice it in the movies, a blue or cyan Lightsaber means it belongs to a Jedi Guardian or a Jedi Weapon Master. Yellow, bronze or orange ones fit in with a Jedi Sentinel or a Jedi Watchman. The green, silver and viridian ones fit in with the Jedi Consulars and also the Jedi Masters. A red one belongs to any class of Sith.

It’s funny how you would find a lot of Star Wars fans fight over the real meaning or symbolisms of Lightsaber colors from its owners. Some even get into serious word fights in different online forum discussions about Star Wars gadgets, weapons and other stuff. I really don’t mind them arguing over the silliest things but sometimes it can get out of hand. They are arguing how a Jedi should be selected as if they were part of a council. My final notes are if these people were given Lightsabers, they’d probably end up slicing each other over an argument that should never have been for real to start with.

There are plenty of Star Wars toys in existence today, because ever since the franchise got started in 1977, it has yet to slow down. It seems like every couple of years they release another film with great success. So, there are plenty of toys still on shelves in the store, but they don’t really compare to having some great vintage Star Wars toys.

This particular franchise has made such an impact on its fans. So much, that it still has one of the largest fan bases of dedicated people willing to make it their life’s work to ensure that the collectibles associated with it are not lost in time. Others want to find these toys to reconnect with their childhood joy.

So then the question is: what are you going to get? That really boils down to your purpose for seeking them out. Obviously if you are looking to just start a collection, or regain your formerly favorite toys, you are going to have to determine what toys you once had. If you are looking for collectibles on a basis of resale value, then your purchases and focus will likely be different.

I opted not to go into a good deal of detail concerning the specifics of these collectibles. The reason for this, is that you could get more detailed and specific lists of the most profitable toys and figurines to find and resell in order to make some serious change. So if this is what you are collecting for, check these sites out.

Most of us just want to play with another Millennium Falcon, or pretend to use the Force as we take our X-wings to destroy the Death Star. If this is you, than I can give you an idea of where to look for some of these portions of your past. If you don’t have an idea of where to start looking, it might be difficult for you to find anything that you really wanted.

While internet sites are likely your best direct source to the toys you miss, you might also find success through other avenues. For instance, many have found success through various yard sales and garage sales. More so, people have seen a good deal of success by shopping at massive flea markets. In addition there are toy trade shows specifically for Star Wars toys, but the figurines here can get rather pricey.

Hopefully you have a better grasp of what it takes to find and purchase vintage Star Wars toys. So hopefully, with very little effort (and money), you are able to relive a huge part of your past.
