Some people will have suspicious minds about your addiction to Elvis memorabilia, but others will empathize. And by those others, I mean the millions of Elvis collectors all over the globe. For years anything remotely to do with Elvis has been hugely popular. Today, Elvis collectibles are just as popular as they ever were.
The range of memorabilia is wide. From strange to clever to downright expensive, you can find pretty much anything. In 2009, at an auction of a few of Presley's personal items, a bidder paid over $200,000 for a blue jumpsuit with cape and gold lining which had been worn by Elvis at Madison Square Garden in 1972. A ring of 14K gold and diamonds featuring the face of an owl went for $40,000.
Do not worry; not all collectibles will cost so much. Online auction and retail outlets are great places to look for great bargains on some nice Elvis merchandise. Check regularly as inventory is always changing. Other good places to search are flea markets and yard sales.
Two hugely popular pieces of memorabilia are autographs and records. An authentic Elvis signature on a record cover, magazine article or poster is often quite valuable and is difficult to get outside of an auction. Since there are so many Elvis recordings, collecting 45 records and albums can seem endless. A lot of folks like to hang their Elvis records or otherwise display them rather than actually play them.
If you find yourself in a cold Kentucky rain, there is no need to worry. Elvis Presley memorabilia will keep you warm. There are numerous blankets, quilts, sheet sets and throws featuring pictures of The King. Any shape, size or color you can think of is available. And often they come in their own storage tins. And what good are sheets and blankets without pillows? Won't the rest of the passengers on the train be jealous when they see you resting comfortably on your Elvis neck pillow?
And all generations have Elvis Presley fans. Perhaps your children are some from the newest generation. If so, they would probably love the Elvis lunchbox, like the pink Love Me Tender lunch box complete with matching thermos. Once the homework is done, the family can all enjoy a game of Elvisopoly.
If you are having problems rounding out your collection of all things Elvis, then perhaps a close look at non-traditional items is in order. One thing worth a look is the ceiling fan pull figurine. One quick yank on Elvis and voila your room will be as cool as he is. And why not wake up to Elvis? Alarm clocks with his image on the dial face are readily available. For the more discerning fan, you can purchase an upscale pendulum clock with Elvis' legs acting as the pendulums.
There is nothing wrong with a healthy desire for an Elvis collection. I say give me a little less conversation and go out and get yourself some nice pieces to add to what you already have. Elvis Presley was and is a musical icon who will continue to be loved for years to come.
